The Matsunami Cong is located in the Shonan area of Chigasaki City,Kanagawa Prefecture. The place name "Matsunami"(松浪) is said to come from the geographical feature of being a water's edge covered with pine trees(“松” is pine tree in Japanese). It is famous for sea activities such as surfing(“浪” is sea big waves in Japanese).
It is close to tourist spots such as “Enosima”, Aquarium, Hakone hot spring, Odawara fishing port, Kamakura, and has a warm, comfortable climate, making it a popular tourist spot in the Summer. There are many fireworks events in the summer, and the area is also famous for delicious seafood such as raw whitebait, so be sure to come and enjoy it together.
The Matsunami Cong is made up of about 80 members with unique personalities.
Some members work at Bethel, and the cheerfulness of the younger members and the friendly relationships between the more experienced brothers and sisters are palpable.
Each member comes from all over Japan, and they respect and support each other as they serve.

The territory is very small, just 1.3 miles wide and 2.5 miles long, and many young people have moved there in search of a new life. Most of the service is done on foot or by bicycle, and it is impressive to see the elderly sisters riding their bicycles with such ease. The sisters, always with smiles on their faces, are like dewdrops as they serve.
This is a movie of the relay race that takes place every year in early January. “Ekiden” is a marathon in which 10 people run a round trip of about 135 miles from Tokyo to Hakone.
